It also indicates that successful metadata
management requires a comprehensive strategy and framework which will be presented
through historical, current-state, and future perspectives. This chapter defines
???Metadata??? as information pertaining to the Web application environment that the
organization defines as critical to the business.
??? The third chapter is entitled ???Architecture of an Information System for Personal Financial
Planning???. It presents a reliable application architecture and a corresponding
system architecture of a system for personal financial planning. The presented application
architecture is related to the business requirements and the system architecture
is related to information technology. This chapter also presents an analysis model as
part of the application architecture showing the granularity of an industry model. An
intrinsic part of the proposed system architecture is the usage of Web technologies.
??? The fourth chapter is entitled ???Approaches to Building High Performance Web Applications:
A Practical Look at Availability, Reliability, and Performance???. It introduces
five practices to help build scalable, resilient Web applications. This chapter
indicates that in 2004, IBM launched its expertise location system, bringing together
two legacy systems and transforming the employee??™s ability to find and connect with
their extensive network.
