Conclusion,.Implications,........................................
Recommendations,.and.Summary
Overview
The meanings, impact, and future environments of enterprise metadata were researched,
documented, and applied to the Web-enabled environment within this chapter. A universal
repository design was laid out, including a wide variety of functions that address the needs
of the business as well as the technology community. The environment was integrated into
the Web-enabled architecture in order to deliver a tool for governing the entire lifecycle of
asset development. This section will address the conclusions of the author, implications for
researchers and architects, recommendations for further research, and a summery statement
of accomplishment.
Conclusions
The impact of the enterprise metadata environment is being felt by every organization that
is attempting to integrate a Web-based environment. The establishment of an architecture
governance process, along with a collection of tools for managing the environment, is critical
to the success of any large-scale effort. In this chapter, the author has described the need for
a universal strategy for asset management across the Information Technology infrastructure.
