"Architecture of Reliable Web Applications Software"

Organizations should
continue to push the industry as well as the vendor community to develop solutions to address
the issues of asset management at the enterprise level. While standards like ITIL are
emerging, the vendor community is not investing enough capital to address the gaps in the
software environment. Most organizations still build their own solutions or try to patch a
variety of software applications.
Researchers should take a look at helping to fill in the gaps and supporting the various standards
that are converging. Enormous investments are being made in XML and the Semantic
Web; these efforts need to be applied to the metadata environment in order to move to the
highest level of maturity. This research did not have the space to address the design to the
levels of data standards, visual design frameworks, nor application technologies. This highlevel
design needs to be taken to the implementation phase, and clearly define requirements
based on research and the emerging standards. The research could also be applied to other
software applications within the Web-enabled environment, including the Web service
registry and business intelligence reporting required by organizations implementing these
technologies.
