The final recommendation is for organizations that have not addressed the integration,
either at the data or service layer, to begin the process as soon as possible. The industry is
moving closer to a borderless business environment where transactions will flow, not within
businesses, but between them. Dynamic business models are built upon the utilization of
Internet technologies to literally redefine how business gets done. The new business models
require integration, not within the organizational technical environment, but between
organizations. Organizations that do not invest in these external integration technologies
and adopt the emerging standards will be left behind and unable to compete under the new
business model.
