industry information, often available only for a fee.
Benefits of Web Portals for SMEs
There are many advantages for business and community groups in using portals, and Burgess,
Bingley, and Tatnall (2005) describe a revenue model for horizontal portals in which they
examine the role of players, strategies, and content. Although portals have many benefits,
they are especially important for small business, offering benefits that make up for some of
the problems of being small. These include (Tatnall, Burgess, & Singh, 2004):
