In this chapter, we presented scalable broker-based architecture for QoS management of
Web services. The QoSMA architecture has the following features:
??? QoSMA??™s broker is only involved in the Web services selection and QoS negotiation
conducted at the beginning of a session. The clients then interact directly with the
assigned Web services. With respect to scalability, this approach is superior to those
where a server is selected for each request.
??? QoSMA provides architectural support for the provision of similar Web services with
different categories of QoS.
??? QoSMA completes the selection of Web services based on their QoS and support QoS
negotiation and monitoring.
??? QoSMA's server replication increases Web services availability and reduces the load
on the Web services.
??? QoSMA provides architectural support for performance information gathering for
reliability and load-balancing purposes.
??? QoSMA provides scalable mechanisms by which users may locate suitable Web servers
without any prior knowledge of the organization of resources or their physical
locations.
??? QoSMA Manages QoS provision for a diverse population of users that may not have
the same requirements.
